Kelley Fox is a dedicated wine maker. She is so dedicated to her biodynamically farmed vines that she is the only person who is allowed to work her vines. Kelley is indeed a rising star in the American West Coast wine scene. If you visit the winery outside of Portland, Oregon, you will most likely find Kelley out in the vines.
Kelly only makes about 3000 cases of pinot noir a year and we are very lucky to have her Mirabai pinot noir in stock. The fruit for this wine is sourced from the old vine Maresh vineyards in the Dundee Hills, the soil here is volcanic jory which gives depth and minerality, and the Demeter certified biodynamic vineyard of Momtazi which has sedimentary loamy soil giving backbone to the wine. She uses 12 barrels from Maresh and one barrel from Momtazi.
The result is a silky, smooth, elegant pinot noir that has a depth and intensity that you would expect from great Burgundy; and here we find it in Oregonian pinot noir. The aromas of pure red fruit alone from this wine will knock your socks off. Kelley seamlessly blends the two vineyards together to create a truly excellent and delicious wine.
The Kelley Fox Mirabai Pinot Noir retails in the Wine Vault for £41.80
